I ordered a Kindred Spirit Oak in the 2’ to 3’ size. At this price point With free shipping, I didn’t expect much and the Oak I received exceeded my expectations. It did not ship in a pot but the rootball was tightly wrapped with a plastic bag that kept the moisture locked in during its weeklong journey. It was small and had a lot of tender new growth that started to enlarge and darken in color within a week of planting.
The leaves are more similar to those of the Swamp White Oak than the other of the two parents, the English White Oak. This adds a nice visual differentiation compared to the many columnar English White Oaks on the market.
I recommend ordering one for your own yard and you can trust kindredspiritoak.com as the real deal.

Bought 5 trees to grow up and to shade my house. Bought them in the dead heat of August in the desert. One arrived, didn’t look real hot, I should have said something then, but the other four looked awesome. Through the dead heat, and the cold winter, the four look awesome. I FINALLY found the tree!
I was in Ann Arbor Michigan visiting and was near Motts Hospital and noticed a beautiful tree that would not identify in any of the Tree ID apps I had.
It kept saying Swamp Oak, which I knew it wasn’t. I started just researching and Googling until Kindred Spirit popped up. I immediately contacted them and Josh was so helpful and responded so quickly to confirm “his” tree and give me ordering information.
I ordered a taller one from him for $105, planted it the next day (I’m in zone 6b in Evansville, Indiana) on October 5, 2022 and it looks good, although it’s only been 20 days.

I’m very happy with my purchase and this company. Josh was very thoughtful in arranging the shipping days in order to avoid harmful delays in shipping hubs. The trees arrived while still dormant from winter, but the leaves and new growth exploded from them a few weeks later as the temperatures rose. They are very healthy trees, and the roots were not bound by prior planting. It’s been about two weeks since they were planted, and they’ve responded very well to the Missouri clay soil they were planted in, putting out new growth. Please note that you will want a stake of some sort for support as these trees grow fast and top heavy from the new growth.

Purchased 7 2′-3′ trees in early May and now nearly 3 months later six are thriving with the tallest measuring nearly 5′. We did loose one due to an unknown reason, but some times that happens with plants. We plan to purchase two more (to replace the one that died and one to complete our living fence line) this fall. These have been really easy to care for (we staked them), even through we had a very dry June, and planted them in VA clay, a simple deep water twice a week was all they needed.
